About Our 2022 Grants

This year, there are two grant streams: 1) Arts and Culture Grant, and 2) Mentorship and Leadership Grant. Applicants can also apply for our Community Impact Award.

1) Mentorship and Leadership Grant

These challenging times highlight the role of effective leaders in building resilient communities. In response, the Kiwanis Club of Toronto has chose to focus on supporting mentorship and leadership opportunities of children and youth in Toronto with grants up to $10,000 each.

This grant will support initiatives that inspire children and youth to become leaders in their communities.  Funding will contribute towards programs that encourage the development of transferable leadership skills, such as decision-making, teamwork, goal setting, time management and community involvement, to name a few.

2) Arts and Culture Grant

The Kiwanis Club of Toronto is excited to offer a new granting initiative in 2022 to support organizations that provide programming for children and youth with a focus on the arts.

Grants of up to $10,000 each will support initiatives that facilitate the creation of art as a tool for the development of young minds, and/or coping and supporting mental health by children and youth in Toronto.  These grants will fund programs that encourage young people to express themselves through creative endeavors.

Community Impact Award

All grant applicants will also have a chance to win our Community Impact Award (CIA) — up to $40,000 in additional funding!

This year, we will be awarding our CIA to an exceptional charity in the amount of $40,000. The CIA is open to all applicants of our Arts grants and Mentorship/Leadership grants. The recipient of the CIA will be a charity which best explains how the additional funding of $40,000 will impact the organization, their existing programming, and the community through new and innovative programming.

Past Recipients

Every year, the Toronto Kiwanis Foundation provides funding to many organizations to support their work with children and youth in the community.

As 2017 was our Centennial year, Kiwanis Toronto had an ambitious, one-time only approach to grant applications. We awarded 100 Centennial Grants to 100 charitable organizations with grants of $2500 each. Programs from Toronto-based charities that helped indigenous youth or children in the developing world were also eligible.

The applicants who received a 2017 grant were then able to apply for the Community Achievement Award valued at $40,000 – which was awarded to MJKO at our Gala on September 21, 2017.
